Description
The Famous Henry Ford Museum / Greenfield Village is the home of the famous Mary-Martha Chapel aka Martha-Mary Chapel, The Chapel was designed based on a church in Bradford, Massachusetts and was to face the Town hall at the front and back of the village Green.
The Bricks and doors came from the building in which Henry Ford & Clara Bryant were married in 1888 - the Bryant family home in old Greenfield Township (from which the village name was taken) and the Bell, according to the 1933 guide book, was cast by son of Paul Revere.
The name Martha-Mary came from the first names of his mother and mother-in-law. Henry Ford made the Church Steeple like those of New England Village so that it was the Highest point of all the buildings in the Village Town and was a custom in most towns across America so people could always find the church in town.
This Photo was taken during the yearly Christmas Holidays at Greenfield Village with the Village decorated with Christmas Lights and Christmas Carolers singing Famous old songs from the past, Model T rides and Horse drawn Hayrides and when there is snow Sleigh Rides. The Moon is Rising just at the Right Moment above the Church Steeple and is breathe taking as the Flood Lights shine upon the Church and trees at night, as people sit around camp fires drinking hot chocolate and enjoying the moments and visiting the Christmas Shops and Santa Clause and his Rain Deer and Fireworks to finish off the Christmas Celebration and Visit to GreenField Village -Merry Christmas.
