The Steamboat "Suwanee" is like the Suwanee Paddle Steamboat that Thomas Edison traveled on in the 1920's during the winters in Florida, The Original Suwanee Steamboat was Salvaged by Thomas Edison's good friend Automaker Henry Ford and flew in the original engine to Henry Ford's Factory and rebuilt the Steamboat Engine in 1930 and had a portion of the Rouge River drudged into Greenfield Village in 1937 and was called the Suwanee Lagoon. The new Steamboat Suwanee was rebuilt in 1988 and became one the most popular attractions for tourists visiting Greenfield Village to experience a boat ride on the Vintage Steam Paddle-boat "Suwanee". The Steam Paddle Boat was a Wood Burning Steam Boat till 1976, then switched to coal in 1990's,The Famous vintage Steam paddle Boat was decommissioned around 2004 and dismantled in 2011
