Description
Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse is among the ten oldest lighthouses in Michigan, it is a active lighthouse located on Lake Huron near Port Hope, The Lighthouse protects Ships from the shallow Shoals and reefs that lurk beneath these waves, presenting a danderous hazard to boats and ships as they round Michigans Thumb.
Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse was constructed in 1848 the first year lit, and was automated in 1958 and is made of brick and stone and tower has a Conical shape, the Markings are White with Black and red trim, the tower lighthouse is 93 feet tall, and the original lens was a third order Fresnel lens with Bullseyes , the current lens is a DCB 224 Carlisle & Finch Aerobeacon and has a 28 mile nautical Miles Range.
