Description
Beautiful Elizabeth Park located in Trenton Michigan on the Detroit River, is a Island Park with a Canal flowing around the Island, the Island has a main bridge and 3 pedestrian Bridges, the Indian Tribe Wyandot once occupied the Island for seceral Centuries before the Europeans arrived to colonize the area, A battle took place which was called battle of maguaga during the War of 1812.
Giles Bryan Slocum 1808-1884 was a bussiman and landowner and managed Docks along the Detroit River in 1834 he married Sophia Truax -daughter of Abram Caleb Traux in 1838 they had only 1 child " ELIZABETH and in 1912 the island name was inherited by family and given to the state but the name was to be changed to Elizabeth Park as her mother's last will and wishes.
