Description
The U.S.S Kearsarge Ship of Rocks is located in Upper Michigan on US-41 in Kearsage north of Calumet in Houghton County. The U.S.S Kearsarge fought in the Civil War 1962 and sank the Confederate Raider C.S.S Alabama. Four other ships have bore the same name for the United States Navy, including a battleship that was in World War I and an Aircraft Carrier that served in the Vietnam and Korean War.
This Ship of Stone in Kearsarge Michigan was built to honor the U.S.S. Kearsarge and a park is a Veterans Memorial park honoring all veterans from the Area.
