The Spirit of Detroit is a city monument with a large bronze statue created by Marshall Fredericks and is located at the Coleman Young Municipal center on Woodward Ave in Detroit Michigan USA.
It was Commissioned in 1955 for the cost of $58,000 in present day would cost $600,000 and dedicated in 1958, In its left hand, The Large seated figure holds a gilt bronze sphere emanating rays to symbolize GOD. The people in the figure's right hand are a family group.
The S26 foot sculpture was the largest cast of its time and was cast in Oslo, Norway.
During Holidays and Detroits Sports Teams Play-offs Teams Jerseys are put on the statue during the games
