Fort Wayne Detroit was built by the French in 1701 then the French Surrender the Fort to the British in 1760 and in 1796 The United States took over the Fort and rebuilt in 1842-51 in a Star Sharped Fortification off the Detroit River facing Canada.The Opening Shots of the War of 1812 were fired near Fort Wayne Detroit.
Historic tours are open on weekends and special events of the War of 1812 and other war Simulations take place during the Summer months.
On top of the Hill along the walls Northern Corner is Fort Wayne Flag - An American Soldier Salutes the American Flag as 2 US fighter jets fly by as tribute to the Historical Fort Wayne - Detroit
