Description
Rawleyt Point Lighthouse is named after Peter Rawley, who established a trading post in the area in 1835 and the light was established in 1853 on 4 poles 75 ft high with a lantern. many changed have been made since then and now the Rawley Point Lighthouse stands at 113 feet high and is the tallest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and is listed on the national register of Historic Places.
First Tower Built was in 1874 and was lit with a third order Fresnel Lens, in 1890 a steam fog Whistle was added and in 1893 a circular oil house was built.
The Rawley Point Lighthouse has a Twin DCB-36 Aerobeacons and is used as Coast Guard personnel as a Residence, The Lighthouse has many trails leading to the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan.
