Description
Fort Gratiot Lighthouse in Port Huron Michigan was the first lighthouse built in 1829, Fort Gratiot was Established in 1814 and was named after General Charles Gratiot to guard the juncture of lake Huron and St Clair river, with a surge of Boat Traffic in the early 1800's Congress approved the funds for the first lighthouse in Michigan and the second oldest on the Great Lakes.
Today, a Coast Guard Station and the lighthouse watch over one of the busiest waterways in the world.
